Blakely Island is one of the San Juan Islands of Washington. Although the text concentrates on Blakely, its history is interwoven with other islands of the San Juan group. Blakely is a private pilot's paradise today, as well as having second homes of boaters and others. In the past it had a sawmill and the pioneer homes of fisherman and one or two scoundrels. Today much of the island is managed by Seattle Pacific University as a reserve for research. Lively anecdotes and stories, since our family owned a cabin there since 1961.
